George Hindle was born in Blackburn, Lancashire in 1896. He was 1 of 12 children. George was a pupil of St Alban's School. When he left St. Alban's Higher Grade School he worked for the Blackburn Co-operative Society. He was employed in the drapery department.

August 1914

In August 1914 the First World War started. In November of that year George enlisted with the Border Regiment. When his training was complete he joined the Ist Battalion.

First Posting

His first combat experience came when his battalion was sent to Gallipoli in 1915. 

Casualty

George Hindle was mortally wounded on August 21st 1915.

He died from his wounds. He has a known grave. His name is recorded on the Helles Momorial at Gallipoli in Turkey.
